I would like to welcome in Christopher “fuegote” Enger to MLS Predictions. Chris is a contributer to AYL Soccer, an RSL/MLS soccer blog. AYL does a great job of providing interviews with players and coaches of RSL and other MLS teams as they pass through Salt Lake, and most of those interviews are in Podcast format for easy listening.

Without further adieu, here are Chris’ picks:

Houston @ Toronto FC – Toronto is coming off the franchise’s first victory and the attitude is at an all time high. Their fans are fantastic and have quickly made BMO Field the hostile environment most teams covet. However, they are missing Dichio at the point and are welcoming a Houston team that looks like they have righted their ship. I still think the atmosphere helps TFC earn 1 point Wednesday night. Houston 1 – TFC 1

FC Dallas @ Chicago Fire – The ultimate rebound game for Chicago vs. a let down game for Dallas. Even though FC Dallas has strengthened their midfield with Ricchetti and Sala is back between the pipes, I still do not see their back line defending Rolfe and Mapp very well. FC Dallas 1 – Chicago 2

DC United @ Toronto FC – On our podcast this week I called this a draw and I have no idea why. DC has had time off and they are looking to play like they did against Chivas. TFC is playing their third match in 8 days. DC United 2 – Toronto FC 0

Columbus Crew @ Red Bull New York – How will Arena’s team react after their first really disappointing match as well as their first loss of the season? They will dominate this match and Angel will open up his MLS campaign with a couple of goals. Crew 2 – NYRB 3

New England Revolution @ Houston Dynamo – The 2006 MLS Cup rematch. New England is playing phenomenal soccer right now and Houston is playing their second match of the week. Last year New England avenged their 2005 MLS Cup defeat to the Galaxy. This year they will manage a draw at Houston as Houston is also in good form and DeRosario is starting to find his form. New England 2 – Houston 2

Kansas City Wizards @ Colorado Rapids – Two lingering question, which Colorado team shows up? When Team A shows up, like in New York, Colorado plays stifling defense and counter very well. When Team B shows up you get uninspired matches like the matches at home against RSL and Houston. KC is a paper lion right now with 6 of their points coming from expansion TFC early in the season. Team A shows up and Pablo will be riding Eddie Johnson for 90 minutes. KC 0 – Colorado 2

LA Galaxy @ CD Chivas – The Galaxy are coming off a brutal loss in the closing minutes against the Revolution. CD Chivas are not playing well unless they are playing bottom dwellers RSL and TFC. Look for the Galaxy to rebound. LA Galaxy 2 – CD Chivas 1

Real Salt Lake @ FC Dallas – Can’t a homer dream? RSL looks more organized: check; RSL earned a point away from home: check; FC Dallas is playing their second match of the week: check; Pizza Hut Park is wider than Rice Eccles Stadium: check. RSL upset special. RSL 3 – FC Dallas 2

Thanks again Chris, and good luck this week!

MLS Predictions would like to welcome Buzz Carrick, who is the publisher of 3rd Degree. Buzz writes mostly about FC Dallas during the season, but does the best pre-draft player evaluation around. A great site for any serious MLS fan.

Buzz is the first in a long line of hopeful guest predictors. Each week, we will give a new blogger have a shot at making predictions.

RSL at Colorado
The Saints should be better as most teams take a step forward under a new manager, at least for the first few games. But Colorado is one of the toughest home fields in MLS and the Rapids are maybe a top goalkeeper from being a top team. Beckerman should have a field day for the Rapids in the middle. Colorado 2, Real Salt Lake 0

Chicago at Toronto FC

Chicago is on a roll and Toronto FC is not a very good side to this point. That TFC home field rocks one wonders how that crowd will hold up if they continue to lose. Chicago 1, Toronto FC 0

Chivas USA at Columbus

I think Chivas is a solid team, but I don’t like the distraction that Guevara is causing. Columbus is looking much improved with their new midfield. Chivas USA 0, Columbus 2

FC Dallas at Kansas City

KC is hot and Eddie Johnson is angry and will be looking for revenge, Fast Eddie will net two in this one. FCD is trying to fit two players into their
team, new signing Ricchetti and the suspended Sala, plus Ruiz is dropped for missing training. FC Dallas 1, Kansas City 2

New England at Los Angeles

Here we have two teams that are unfinished products, perhaps going in different directions. Each has some missing pieces, but each has some
players that can rise to the occasion. New England 1, Los Angeles 1

Colorado at New York

The Radids are not a wonderful road team over the last few years, but they are scrappy and tough enough to handle the turf. New York, despite Angel,
is still not an offensive force. Colorado 0, New York 0
