• Gomez traded to Rapids

  Christian Gomez, the 2006 MLS MVP has been traded from DC United to the Colorado Rapids. DCU will receive a first round 2009 draft pick, and future considerations, widely believed to be the Rapids designated players spot, to be used only for three years (or most likely, as long as Gomez is under contract with Colorado.  

• Eddie Johnson completes Fulham transfer

  Eddie Johnson has received his work permit and bought out his MLS contract to complete is transfer to Fulham. EJ should get a chance to start with the struggling EPL side, I hope he does well.

• Jose Burciaga jr. traded to Rapids

  Kansas City, who apparently is going to try to outscore opponents in 2008, has traded Jose Burciaga jr. to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for a second round pick in the 2009 MLS draft. Burciaga was left unprotected in the 2007 expansion draft, which pretty much sealed his fate to a trade this off season.

• Nick Garcia traded to San Jose

  The Kansas City Wizards have traded Nick Garcia to the expansion San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for the first pick in the upcoming 2008 MLS draft. San Jose apparently wasn't happy with the prospects at #1, and need help in the back with the loss of Clarence Goodson.

• Carlos Ruiz traded to Galaxy

  In one of those "anyone could see this coming" trades, FC Dallas has traded Carlos Ruiz to the LA Galaxy in exchange for a 2nd round pick in 2009 and allocation money. The Galaxy now have three designated players on their roster, though Ruiz and Donovan are grandfathered in for now.
