5/26/07 – MLS Predictions Predictions
Chicago Fire at New York Red Bull – Chicago has been horrible lately, just really not playing well after a decent stretch to start the season. NY on the other hand, played really well, blinked in two matches in a row, then blew out Columbus last week at home. With another home match this week, look for the home run to continue against Chicago. Even without Reyna, NY should have no problem dominating the midfield, and should have plenty of chances to score. Look for Mathis to net at least one, to tie the club record for career goals. Chicago Fire 1, NYRB 3
Kansas City Wizards at New England Revolution – KC’s back line is banged up, and playing on the road against the East’s best team, look for Twellman to get plenty of chances again this week. KC will have to play a perfect game to win, and nearly perfect to tie, and I just don’t see that happening. KC Wizards 1, NE Revolution 1
Toronto FC at Columbus Crew – Toronto has being playing well at home, but now they venture out on the road where have yet to score a goal or get a point. If Toronto is to get a point on the road this year, this is the week. Columbus has not been playing well lately, and they seem to be playing for a tie rather than a win. This could be either one of those 0 – 0 duds or a 4 – 3 shootout. I am going with the dud. Toronto FC 0, Columbus Crew 0
Houston Dynamo at DC United – A match up of two teams that haven’t been playing well at all, a good game here, a bad game there. DC has been playing better lately with two wins, though they were given the match against NE (two horrific calls), and got lucky with a PK with just a few minutes to go. Playing at home, they should have an advantage over Houston, who just can’t figure out what is going on. I am not sold on DC yet, but this win would help. DC United 1, Houston Dynamo 1
LA Galaxy at Colorado Rapids – The Rapids are at home again, looks like another tie. This match really comes down to whether Donovan shows up or not. If he shows up, it is a tie, if not, it will probably be a tie. LA Galaxy 1, Colorado 1
FC Dallas at Chivas USA – Dallas is on a roll, with three wins in a row, two of which were on the road. Chivas has two loses and two ties in their last four, and have not been playing well at all. Dallas was fortunately to beat RSL, it took a crazy strike in the closing minutes to win. I am just not sure they can do it again on the road this week. FC Dallas 1, Chivas 2
Real Salt Lake at Chicago Fire – Chicago has been down right horrible lately, with four straight loses. Three have been on the road, but a home loss to Dallas has made this a really bad stretch. Not only have they lost all four, they really haven’t been in any of the matches. Having played on Thursday, Chicago has to travel home to meet Salt Lake. With Cunningham gone, Esky will give RSL a forward who will run and get on the end of balls, something Cunningham never did. Look for the Chicago streak to continue, and the heat on Sarachan to heat up. Real Salt Lake 3, Chicago Fire 2
