4/14/07 – MLS Predictions Predictions

Columbus Crew at Real Salt Lake – RSL was unlucky to not get a win last week against FC Dallas, while the Crew bored us all to death with a 0 – 0 draw against NYRB. RSL has more talent, and playing at home on the cement will give them the advantage they need. RSL 3, Columbus 1

Toronto FC at New England Revoluton – Totonto continues their road trek to open the season in New England. They had a hard time with possesion agains Chivas, and I see that trend continuing. New England is experienced, and are playing at home. The Revolution should stroll through this one, Revolution 2, Toronto FC 0

Kansas City Wizards at DC United – DC had a short week last week (if you count 2 days as a short week) to get ready for Colorado in the snow, and they fell short. With a week to get ready at home for KC, who will be playing their first game of the season after being the add man out week 1. Look for Fred to get more time with the first team, and with another week to get more comfortable as a unit, I see DC taking an early lead, and holding of KC down the stretch. DC United 2, Wizards 1

Chivas USA at Houston Dynamo – Chivas had a cake walk last week against Toronto, dominating every bit of the match. This should be the best match of the week, Houston, along with DC, should be the class of the league. They are too talented to play any more boring 0 – 0 matches. This match will be a better test of how good Chivas will be this year. Look for Chivas to be competitive, but for Houston to win out in the end. Dynamo 2, Chivas 1

Chicago Fire at Colorado Rapids – Colorado plays game #2 at the Dick, even though you know the crowd won’t be as big even if the weather is better. Colorado is by far the most boring team to watch in MLS, and Chicago isn’t much better. Both realy heavily on defense, and just hope to score each week. Boring match of the week, Fire 1, Rapids 1

FC Dallas at NY Red Bulls – FC Dallas is playing well, with a draw at RSL and a win at the Galaxy mid week. Dallas had a long trek, a Thursday night game in LA and a Sunday afternoon game in New York. After watching the 90 minutes of domination over LA, I am not sure if it tells me Dallas is going to be really good, or if LA is just going to be really bad. Look for Dallas to use another lineup on Sunday in an attempt to rest a few more players. Dallas should dominate, but with less than three days rest, and a cross country flight in between, they would be happy with a tie. NY will be looking for a win, but I don’t see it. FC Dallas 2, Red Bulls 2
